The Book Club has Started New Books!

Many long-term readers of this Newsletter will already be familiar with the Book Club. For those who aren’t, it meets every Thursday at 6:00 PM for an hour and is divided into three breakout groups based on braille reading proficiency. Members take it in turns to read and support each other with the ups and downs of mastering the braille code.

The three books being read over the next few weeks are:

  • Beginners: Paddington Turns Detective and Other Funny Stories, by Michael Bond
Available in grades 1 and 2, double line spacing from the RNIB Library, archive numbers br25991903 (grade 2) and br25991905 (grade 1)
Found in the “Children Stories 1” (grade 2) and “Children G1” (grade 1) folders of the RNIB Orbit Reader SD card
  • Intermediate: Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell
Available in grade 2, single line spacing from the RNIB Library, archive number br26499903
Found in the “Classic” folder of the RNIB Orbit Reader SD card (grade 2 only, note the title is written in words (beginning with “n”) and not in figures)
  • Advanced: The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper, by Phaedra Patrick
Available in grade 2, single line spacing from the RNIB Library, archive number br25711903
Found in the “Humorous Fiction” folder of the RNIB Orbit Reader SD card (grade 2 only)

If you’re interested in reading any of these books, please feel free to join. The group is very friendly and always welcomes new members.
