At its face-to-face meeting in May, the Braille Authority of North America (BANA) approved Guidance on Transcribing Mathematics and Science in UEBThis publication replaces Provisional Guidance on Transcribing Mathematics in UEB and is now available in PDF and BRF versions on the BANA website. A direct link to that page is https://www.brailleauthority.org/unified-english-braille-codebooks.

The newly adopted guidance document incorporates recent revisions to the international publication Guidelines for Technical Material, section 1.7 Choice and Placement of Grade 1 Indicators, by the International Council on English Braille (ICEB). The guidance document also includes an expanded selection of examples to illustrate transcription of math and science expressions in UEB.

The mission of the Braille Authority of North America is to assure literacy for tactile readers through the standardization of braille and/or tactile graphics.
