Stay Safe: Stay Connected
We’re inviting you to pour yourself a drink and join us for a pub quiz. We’ve got questions on a range of subjects, as well as a couple of special rounds. You’ll need some way of recording your answers to play (you could use a computer, the notes app on your phone, a Braille display or hand frame).
Braille For Beginners
We finished the alphabet and numbers last week, so this week we’ll be starting with single letter word sign contractions.
Stay Safe: Stay Connected
This week we’ll be joined by Brian MacDonald, president of the National Braille Press, and we’ll also be announcing the winner of our survey competition, who will receive a £10 Amazon voucher.
Braille For Beginners
Jenny Langley walks us step-by-step through the braille code, using Fingerprint as a reference.
Clever Cooking
Join Emma and Liam to discuss accessible recipes and techniques in the kitchen. This Wednesday, we’ll be finding out how people got on with the bread recipe we shared last week.
Emma will also be talking about her experiences with the instant pot pressure cooker, and there’ll be a chance to share what you’ve been cooking over the last week with the group!
Stay Safe: Stay Connected
Here in the UK, the government is starting to relax some measures put in place to protect us against COVID-19. As we begin to move towards a new normal, how will the end of lock-down affect blind and partially sighted people?
We’ll be talking about shared spaces, access to cash machines and shopping centres, and whether it’s safe to touch Braille signage.
An Introduction to Unified English Braille
It’s a bank holiday here in the UK, so we’ll be taking a break from our course and discussing UEB (Unified English Braille) instead.
We’ll be talking about why UEB came about, key differences between UEB and earlier codes, and what you can do to make yourself a more confident UEB user. If you have any burning questions about UEB, this is the call for you!
Clever Cooking
Join Emma and Liam to discuss accessible recipes and techniques in the kitchen.
From accessible utensils to store cupboard essentials, we’re hoping these sessions will help you become more confident in the kitchen and cook delicious healthy food for yourself and the people you love.
Stay Safe: Stay Connected: How Accessible is the UK Government Contact Tracing App?
This Friday, we’ll be talking about the accessibility of proposed contact tracing mobile phone apps, other Government services, and how you can use Braille Screen Input to speed up your typing on your phone.
