Canute Mk6 Presentation and Testing
A presentation from Bristol Braille on the latest Canute multi-line Braille ebook reader prototype.
Canute Mk6 Presentation and Prototype
The updated Canute features 4 lines of 28 cells of crisp, highly readable Braille. Books can be loaded in to memory and Braille refresh times have been significantly reduced.
Meet the Transcribers
If you have ever received a utility bill, bank statement, letter from your council or other document through the post in Braille, the chances are it has been produced by a professional Braille transcription company. But who decides which company, how the Braille will be translated, how the Braille should be laid out on the page, and how the document should be packaged? And more importantly, does transcription always go to plan? And what happens if things go wrong?
Development of Visual Impairment education
Join us for an exploration of the development of Visual Impairment education through the ages and where Braille fits within it.
We’ll be joined by Christine McMillan who’s been heavily involved in Visual Impairment education for decades.
This will be a great session to find out where it is heading and how you can get the best out of it for you or your child.
Canute Mk6 Prototype presentation
Canute will be the world’s first multiline refreshable Braille ebook reader, which will cost less than a Braille typewriter and a fraction of the price of existing single line displays. It is being designed and tested in collaboration with members of the Braillists across Ireland and the UK.
New Braille Technology Developments
Join the Bristol Braillists for a look at the latest developments in Braille technology.
With many new projects on the horizons including the Dot watch and Blitab we’ll be looking at how the world of new Braille technology is shaping up and what we might gain from it.
