Braille & Beer
If you’d like to attend but are not sure how to get there, come to our stand at Sight Village shortly before 3pm.
Initial Gathering
Come and meet us for an informal meeting to discuss starting a Manchester Braillists group and what this might involve.
We’ll be at a table upstairs.
Anyone with an interest in Braille is welcome to attend.
Canute Mk7 prototype
Bristol Braille Technology will be showing us the latest incarnation of its affordable multi-line Braille ebook reader, the Canute. The Mark 7 builds on the feedback given by the Braillists on the Mark 6 prototype and makes a number of technological advances that bring individual line refresh, quieter and quicker operation and a full page display.
Be sure to join us for a first look at this revolutionary piece of Braille technology.

Braille Carvings Unveiled
Alistair Park, a wood carver who has been consulting with Braillists in Bristol, has completed panels featuring Braille which will be unveiled by the Chair of the NHS Trust. Volunteer guides will be available to help anyone who needs assistance. Braillists will be made very welcome. Alistair extends his deep appreciation to everyone on and off the forum who helped with the panel design.
Sight Village Scotland
We will have a stand at Sight Village Scotland.
If you are attending, come say hello.
Canute Mk9 / Project Brailler / ICEB
Join us for this month’s Bristol Braillists meeting to see the newest version of the Canute the Mk9 and to meet Kristy Hooper from Project Brailler who will tell us more about her project which aims to provide Smart Brailler machines for visually impaired children.
Also on the agenda is a quick discussion and idea gathering for the upcoming ICEB and we will do some filming for a short fundraising video for the Canute (it is of course completely up to you whether you’d like to be part of this!).
Project Mudra
Project Mudra will be visiting all the way from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India to show their newest Braille development. Ed will also bring along the Canute which has undergone some improvement once again.
